Explorer I First Successful Launch Into Orbit

 
Back in 1958, the United States entered the Space Age with its first successful launch of a satellite into orbit, Explorer I.
Explorer I orbited Earth once every 114.8 minutes after launch, or 12.54 orbits per day and Completed 58,000 orbits times before returning to Earth in March 1970.
Upon returning to earth, Explorer I burned up over the Pacific Ocean.
