Oscars 2014 RECAP: Lupita Nyong’o Accepts “Best Supporting Actress” Award
Lupita Nyong’o charmed the Academy with her graceful and heartwarming speech last night, for her “Best Supporting Actress” win for “12 Years A Slave”.
“It doesn’t escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else’s,” she said after quickly thanking the academy. “And so I want to salute the spirit of Patsey for her guidance. And for Solomon, thank you for telling her story and your own.”
Nyong’o went on to thank the film’s director Steve Mcqueen, “Thank you for putting me in this position; it has been the joy of my life … I’m certain that the dead are standing around you and saluting you.”
