60-year-old man in court after east end police chase ending in gunfireSeptember 17, 2015
A 60-year-old man made a court appearance today after being charged in a dramatic takedown yesterday that ended in gunfire in the Distillery District. Police were chasing a stolen vehicle at Bond and Shuter Streets yesterday around noon. The car was eventually surrounded at Mill and Parliament Streets, where police fired shots at the car’s tires and engine bay. The suspect, Edward Skotnicki, was arrested but was not hit by the bullets. He faces numerous charges, including theft and dangerous driving, and his next court appearance is September 24. Skotnicki is known to police, as he was charged in a similar police chase in 2007, which also involved a stolen car.
