Black Torontonians hold welcome ceremony for Police Chief Saunders

A number of community leaders and other members of the black community have paid tribute to Toronto’s Police Chief Mark Saunders. The event, held last night by the Jamaican Canadian Association (JCA), was to recognize the achievements of the city’s first black police chief. In showing his appreciation, Chief Saunders says the force is trying to redefine policing in the city, but he’ll need the community’s help to make it happen. The reception was organized by the JCA, the Black Business and Professional Association, the Ontario Black History Society and A-Supreme Foundation.
