The 23rd annual Blues on the Green concert took place this past weekend at Emancipation Park in New Kingston, Jamaica.
A collaborative effort between the United States and Jamaica, the event aims to showcase musical artists from both nations as part of Black History Month. The event also encourages donations in hopes of providing educational materials for foundations supporting youth.
Incredible musical acts from across the globe graced the stage, highlighting themes of greed, poverty and simple, honest fun. Grammy award-winning a cappella ensemble ‘Sweet Honey in the Rock’, lit up the stage with African grooves, reggae classics and original material.
The opening acts included local students from the Holy Trinity High School, performing renditions of the Jamaican and American Anthems.
