Bolt, Fraser-Pryce shine at World ChampionshipsAugust 24, 2015
Jamaica’s Usain Bolt showed off his fastest finish of the year at the IAAF World Championships inside the Bird’s Nest, defending the men’s 100-metre title in 9.79 seconds. Justin Gatlin came in second with 9.80, and Markham native Andre De Grasse clocked in at 9.92, tied for third place with American runner Trayvon Bromell. Meanwhile, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce grabbed a gold in the women’s 100m with 10.76. Another Jamaican, O’Dayne Richards won bronze in the men’s shotput, making him the country’s most successful shotputter. Grenada’s Kirani James qualified for the men’s 400m in 44.16 seconds. In the men’s pole vault, Toronto’s Shawn Barber took gold for Canada.
