The television adaption of Lawrence Hill’s “The Book of Negroes” will be coming to your ‘small screen’ in January 2015!
The internationally co-produced miniseries is spilt into six parts and will recount the story Aminata Diallo, a African woman kidnapped from Africa and sold into slavery in the southern U.S. American actress Aunjanue Ellis headlines as the titular character Aminata Diallo and will feature acting performances by Allan Hawco, Jane Alexander, Cara Ricketts, Ben Chaplin and Cuba Gooding Jr.
Hill’s critically acclaimed novel (also known as “Someone Knows My Name” in countries outside Canada) has sold nearly one million copies worldwide since its publication in 2007, and has been awarded multiple honors.
“The Book of Negroes” miniseries is set to air on January 7th, 2015 on the CBC network and on the BET network in the U.S.
