The Boston Red Sox commemorated the three-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings before their annual Patriots’ Day against our Toronto Blue Jays.

The pre-game ceremony started around 10:30 am, with the National Anthem performed by a U.S. Marine Corp Band from Quantico, with Boston Marathon survivor Jeff Bauman and actor/producer Jake Gyllenhaal throwing the first pitch. Gyllenhaal is at Fenway Park filming scenes for an upcoming movie on the Marathon bombings.

Boston has played on Patriots’ Day since 1959 with a 69-51 record all-time.

The bombings occurring on Friday April 15, 2013, killed three spectators and wounded more than 260 others after two pressure-cooker bombs went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
