Iron Man 3 has second highest box office debut in history
It doesn’t take an expert to know that the top movie this week was the superhero flick, Iron Man 3, in fact the $175.3 million that it made this weekend was the second best opening weekend for a film ever.
The film stands just behind The Avengers, another Marvel flick starring Robert Downey Jr., which opened a year ago and took $207.4 million.
In second place this weekend was the Michael Bay-directed action-comedy Pain and Gain starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which brought in $7.6 million.
Jackie Robinson shows his resiliency as 42 came into third this weekend, making $6.2 million.
The Tom Cruise post-apocalyptic action film Oblivion took the fourth spot with $5.8 million.
Rounding out the top 5 was the animated film The Croods which brought in $4.2 million.
