Elysium beats out Comedy and Planes for top spot
Elysium, the latest movie to star Matt Damon, topped the weekend box office, raking in $30.4 million.
The movie stars Matt Damon as a second-class citizen who dares to travel to the first-world realm ruled by Jodie Foster.
We’re The Millers, a comedy starring Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston, was No. 2 at the weekend box office, taking in $26.5 million.
In third place was Disney’s Planes. The Cars spin-off took in $22.5 million.
Also making its debut was Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters with $14.6 million
Rounding out the top 5 was last week’s number 1 movie 2 Guns with $11.1 million.
