Comedy Takes The Number One Spot This Weekend

 

 
Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa didn’t do too badly at the box office drawing in a modest $32 million its first week. Bad Grandpa is a hidden camera comedy; starring Johnny Knoxville as an 86-year-old man and his partner in crime 9-year-old actor Jackson Nicholl who plays Billy. The two misfits travel around the U.S. playing pranks on unsuspected parties.
 
What goes up must come down; Gravity finally drops down landing into second place on its fourth week in theatres bringing an impressive $20.3 million.
 
Captain Phillips treads water to remain in third place on its third week in theatres making $11.8 million.
 
The Counselor didn’t sparkle at the box office even though it has a star studded cast which includes Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt.  The movie is about a lawyer who starts drug trafficking in order to make quick cash so he can marry his girlfriend Laura who is played by Penelope Cruz. The movie only pulled in $8 million in its debut weekend.
 
The children are still not full, the funny animated sequel Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 holds on to the number five spot making $6.1 million in its fifth week in theatres.
