Tom Cruise still has it
Tom Cruise is turning back the hands of time at the box office this weekend proving that he still has the ability to draw a large crowd.
The number one film this weekend was Oblivion. The Tom Cruise, post-apocalyptic thriller wiped out box office competition racking up $38.2 million in its debut weekend.
Last week’s number one movie, 42 slides into second. The story about the life of Jackie Robinson, the first black player in the Major Leagues earned $18 million.
The third film at the box office this week was the animated film, The Croods which earned $9.5 million in its fifth weekend in theaters. So far the film has made $429.4 million globally since its release.
Rounding out the top five, comedy-horror film, Scary Movie 5 earned $6.3 million, while G.I. Joe: Retaliation took in $5.8 million.
Look for the box office to heat up as the summer movie season is among us.
