COMEDY TAKES NUMBER 1 SPOT
Identity Theft was the number one movie at the box office this weekend.
The comedy which stars Jason Bateman and Bridesmaids’ Mellissa McCarthy grossed $26.2 million in its debut weekend.
Last weekend’s number one movie Warm Bodies moves down to the number 2 spot bringing in $11.5 million. This brings the zombie-romance movie’s total gross to $36.7 million.
The prescription-drug-thriller Side Effects which stars Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum and Jude Law earned $10 million in its opening weekend.
Rounding out the top 5 are Silver Linings Playbook and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. The Academy Award-nominated Silver Linings Playbook brought in $6.9 million, bringing its total to $90 million. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters earned $5.8 million this week. So far the film has now grossed $43.8 million.
