In an unprecedented move, the NBA has banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life, along with a fine of 2.5 million dollars, the maximum fine allowed. The basketball league’s commissioner Adam Silver made the decision public today, after an investigation into a recording found that Sterling warned his girlfriend not to invite Black people to his games. Silver says he is now working to have Sterling relinquish control of the team, even though he cannot be forced to sell it.
