Dominica PM calls for action on health, climate change in OECS meeting

A fresh appeal has been made for a health scheme within the Eastern Caribbean, as the region faces a rise in chronic non-communicable diseases. Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit made the call at the 62nd OECS meeting in Roseau. He says such diseases can have adverse effects on individual personal finances in the country, unless this regional approach is realized. Skerrit also wants the international community to take firm decisions on climate change at a summit in Paris, France next month. He told OECS leaders that this is the last opportunity to conclude a firm legal agreement on climate change. The OECS meeting wraps up today.
