Donald Trump seem to be losing some longtime relationships over his recent presidential bid, where he made a few comments about Mexican immigrants. In a statement released yesterday, NBC stated that they will no longer carry Miss USA and Miss Universe, which are both produced by Trump. He would also lose his job as host of the long-running reality show “The Celebrity Apprentice”.
NBC stated; “Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump, at NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values.”
NBC’s decision comes on the heels of an argument between Trump and Spanish language giant Univision, who made the decision to pull the plug on it;s plans to broadcast the Miss USA pageant after Trump’s statement earlier this month, where he asserted that many immigrants coming across the border are “rapist” and are bringing in drugs.
Trump has since released a statement saying ”NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct. NBC will support disgraced journalist Brian Williams but won’t stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be.” He also told CNN that was considering filing a lawsuit against NBC.
NBC bought half of the Miss Universe/Miss USA franchise from Trump in 2002 and has telecast the pageant ever since.
