England stun Windies ahead of World Cup

England bowler Chris Woakes and his five-wicket haul sent an early warning to the West Indies, who were defeated by 9 wickets in the World Cup warm-up match in Sydney. The Windies were bowled out for 122; Lendl Simmons with the top-scorer with 45. The English bowlers were on fire; Woakes picked up 5/19 from 7.3 overs, and Steven Finn took 2/34 from 6 overs. It didn’t take to long for England to reply with 125/1 from 22.5 overs; Moeen Ali took the man-of-the-match title with 46. In other World Cup warmups, Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 3 wickets, South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets via Duckworth/Lewis, and there was no result between New Zealand and Zimbabwe.
