England's Joe Root builds up response to Pakistan

England are counting on Joe Root as they rally against Pakistan in day 2 of the second Test in Dubai. At close of play, Root is unbeaten on 76 as part of England’s total of 182/3 in the first innings. He made a 3rd wicket partnership of 113 with captain Alastair Cook 65; Jonny Bairstow is unbeaten on 27. This is in response to Pakistan’s 378 all out, with scores by the skipper Misbah ul Haq 102, Asad Shafiq 83, Younis Khan 56, and Shan Masood 54. There were a couple 3-wicket hauls from the English bowlers: Moeen Ali picked up 3/108 from 25, and Mark Wood took 3/39 from 19.5. England trail by 196 runs with 7 wickets remaining.
