Roots reggae artist, Peter Ranking has died. Ranking, known in the Reggae community, died of liver cancer in Scarborough Hospital early Monday. He was 53 years old.
His daughter Chanelle posted on Facebook “Thank you for all the prayers and visitors that came to the hospital over the past weeks. He battled with liver cancer for months, he fought hard. May Peter rest in peace and his music live on forever.”
The veteran reggae singer has shared the stage with Jerry Michigan and Smiley, Phillip Fraser, Sammy Dread and others. Julian King, founder of Canadian reggae world.com, said “Peter Ranking was a pioneer for reggae music in this country and had fan base world wide and we’re sending deep condolences to his family and friends.”
