President and founder of G98.7FM Mr. Fitzroy Gordon was honoured over the weekend by the Commonwealth of Dominica Ontario Association with the Honorary Dominican of Distinction Award.

Mr. Gordon will be added to a very select list of prestigious recipients as this is only the third time this award has been given to a non-Dominican. Past recipients include Fairness Commissioner Hon. Jean Augustine and Retired Chief of York Regional Police Armand LaBarge.

Trade and Investment Commissioner Frances Del Sol says offering the radio station to host a Radiothon to aid the victims of the Christmas floods in Dominica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines was “one of the most selfless actions ever directed towards our community.”

The 44th annual cultural gala also featured the 4th annual Miss Wob Dwiyet Canada Pageant where, 6 lovely young ladies of Dominica heritage compete for the coveted title of ‘Youth Cultural Ambassador for Dominica’ (he name Wob Dwiyet is Creole; from the French, meaning ‘robe douiette’).
