West Indies star player Chris Gayle has been fined almost $10,000 Canadian by his Big Bash League team, the Melbourne Renegades, for comments to an Australian TV reporter seen as sexist. This was during Monday’s BBL match with the Hobart Hurricanes. In an interview with Channel 10 reporter Mel McLaughlin, Gayle was commenting on McLaughlin’s looks, even asking her out for a drink. In response, Gayle said sorry but thinks the whole thing was blown out of proportion. Gayle won’t be suspended, but he’s been warned by Cricket Australia not to let it happen again or there will be heavier penalties.
