Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has committed some $150 million to two new clean technology funds, in an effort to stimulate faster industry growth.
Trudeau says the Federation of Canadian Municipalities will get $75 million from Infrastructure Canada for climate change initiatives in communities.
The federal government is also spending more than $50 million to improve climate resilience in design guides, and building and infrastructure codes.
The Prime Minister adds the world economy is quickly moving towards recognizing the importance of protecting the environment, and he wants Canada to be part of it.
He was speaking at the opening plenary session of the Globe Series clean technology conference in Vancouver Wednesday.
