A Haitian film is making waves at the New York Independent Film Festival. The documentary called “ Unbreakable: A story of Hope and Healing in Haiti” will be featured at the festival this weekend.
‘Unbreakable’ shares the real life story of recovery and healing of the thousands of children who survived the horrific aftermath of Haiti’s 2010 earthquake.
Thousands of young people underwent emergency amputations, but they thrived some even formed an amputee soccer team, later on… breaking the negative mindset of being disabled in Haiti. The documentary shows the many challenges faced and overcome by the Healing Haiti’s Children initiative, an organization that offered free prosthetics and rehabilitation to every child injured in the earthquake.
Last month the film won the ‘Most Inspirational Documentary’ Award at the DocMiami International Festival/Florida Documentary Film Festival.
