Apple Inc.’s Macintosh Computer Turns 30 Today

Apple celebrates the 30th birthday of Mac, with an update to Apple.com and a release of a new video, “Thirty Years of Innovation,” in which innovators and creative individuals explain why they have chosen Mac over the years.

Apple explains online:

Thirty years ago, Apple introduced the Macintosh with the promise to put the creative power of technology in everyone’s hands. It launched a generation of innovators who continue to change the world. This 30‑year timeline celebrates some of those pioneers and the profound impact they’ve made.

Years of Innovation

Apple’s “Thirty Years of Mac” Web page has an interactive timeline that shows the process of the Mac, from 1984’s Macintosh to 2014’s Mac Pro. Web page visitors can select on an individual Mac product from the dates given and it will provide a paragraph of information that explains how that particular Apple product changed the way we use computers.

Visitors are encouraged to tell Apple about their first experience with a Mac computer on the “Your First Mac” Web page.
