DARWIN STAYING AT SANCTUARY WHILE OWNERSHIP BATTLE GOES ON

A judge has ruled that Darwin, the “Ikea Monkey” will stay at a sanctuary for monkeys while a court battle is fought to decide ownership.

The monkey’s owner Yasmin Nakhuda is trying to get the monkey back after he escaped from her car and was found wondering the North York Ikea’s parking lot wearing a coat.

After the incident authorities took the monkey to the Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary in Sunderland, Ontario.

Nakhuda says that she was tricked into signing over Darwin to animal services and that separation during the trial for his custody would damage the bond between her and the monkey.
