Jamaica: JGRA head wants contaminated gas distributors to be named

Dec 31, 2015 | Caribbean, NEWS | 0 comments

Leonard Green, President of the Jamaica Gasoline Retailers Association (JGRA), wants to know the names of distributors of contaminated gas. Green believes naming these distributors should be done in the public interest. Green claims a series of tests by the Bureau of Standards has found the source of the bad fuel. He’s now questioning why the distributor’s name is still being withheld. Green says he was hoping that by later today, the authorities will be in a position to reveal the name of the offending distributor. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Standards has now widened its focus to the importers of fuel into Jamaica, as the entity seeks to track the source of the contaminated fuel. This tracking has now become essential in understanding the scale of the contamination, and will be even more significant with respect to compensation for motorists.
