Jamaica: Shareholders approve RJR-Gleaner merger

In Jamaica, shareholders of the RJR Communications Group have approved the resolution for a merger with The Gleaner. This means the deal is one step closer to reality, and it will be considered the biggest media merger in in Jamaica. Another meeting with shareholders will be held January 7, and the name of the new entity is expected to be released by then. The Gleaner Company is 181 years old, and Radio Jamaica has been around for 65 years.
