The Miss World Finals could be held in Jamaica if a Jamaican businesswoman has her way!
Miss World Franchise holder for Jamaica, Laura Butler says the government is on board and they’ve asked her to reopen discussions about hosting the pageant and Julia Morley, CEO of the Miss World Organization has also said she’s interested in having the Miss World Finals in Jamaica.
According to Butler, Morley viewed several hotels and “she concluded Jamaica has sufficient space to host it.” Now it will be a costly endeavour, but the benefit to the country will be huge, Butler says “Jamaica is ranked fourth in the overall Miss World Standings so Jamaica is ready to host this prestigious pageant.” This year the winner takes home 15 million dollars in cash and prizes and a university scholarship.
Meanwhile, the reigning Miss World 2014 Rolene Straus is in Jamaica for the MJW Grand Coronation finals in Montego Bay on August 15th.
