Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight’ Debut Draws 11 Million Viewers

On the very first Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon brought in over 11 million viewers, making it the second-largest audience former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno first farewell. The premiere averaged a 3.8 rating among viewers between the ages of 18 and 49.
Funny man Fallon introduced the show with a walk-on segment filled with Hollywood A-listers (Robert De Niro, Tina Fey, Seth Rogen, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Sarah Jessica Parker, Stephen Colbert, among others). U2 performed on the rooftop as the Manhattan sunset provided a picturesque backdrop, and reminded viewers that the show has returned to New York City.
