The gospel industry mourns the death of Grammy-nominated Gospel great, Daryl Coley. Coley, who was 60, reportedly died Tuesday night in hospice care surrounded by his wife and family.
Coley has been battling diabetes for years, which at one point caused him to be temporarily blind. This led to him being away from the music scene for more than a decade.
He was an innovator in gospel music, known for his vocal riffs and jazz-like arrangements that allowed him to rise through the ranks to be a top figure in Gospel. He was well known for songs like “He’s Preparing Me,” “When Sunday Comes” and “Beyond the Veil.”
