Losing Weight Starts With Your Brain!
It’s that time of the year when those who are determined to keep their New Year’s resolution starts to pull out the list and cross items off.
This week my lifestyle piece will explore the harm that dieting can do, not only to your physical body, but to your mental welfare.
Let’s begin with the basics; according to Neuroscientist Sandra Aamodt your weight is determined by the amount of food you consume and the amount of energy your body burns. The brain controls these two elements without your conscious mind being aware of it. For example breathing while you’re distracted by enticing movie or walking while you text.
Your brain has a sense of what you should weigh no matter what you consciously believe. Here is audio of Sandra Aamodt speaking in more depth about why dieting doesn’t work.
