International R&B diva Mariah Carey is about to have her Caribbean debut as she’s been named the headliner for the 19th annual Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival next year!
This will be the star’s first time ever performing in the Caribbean. Festival producer Walter Elmore says “we are the only festival in the Western Hemisphere to present Mariah Carey since her last tour in 2006.”
The 45 year old singer whose sold more than 200 million records is ecstatic and she even tries out a bit of patio saying, “I’m thrilled to be performing in Jamaica for the first time ever. I can’t wait to connect with my Jamaican fans and I’m really looking forward to spending some time ‘pon de island’ as well.”
Last month, Carey was named the ‘Most Successful Singer of All Time’ by TIME magazine. The Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival takes place January 29th to the 31st at Trelawney Stadium near Falmouth.
