Toddler Dies After Being Left in Hot Car While Father Went to Work
A Phoenix man will be facing murder charges and likely jail time after he left his 1-year old son in a hot car while he went to work, later resulting in the child’s death.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 28-year-old Brokale Lytte Marques was arraigned Tuesday on a second-degree murder charge however, he does not have a lawyer yet. An October 1st status conference and October 3rd preliminary hearing are scheduled in his case.
Marques was arrested Saturday after his son was found at a Scottsdale mall parking lot in a lethargic state. Authorities say Marques told investigators he left the baby in a car seat because he was unable to find a sitter. Marques said he initially left the vehicle running and the air conditioning on, but later turned it off.
Scottsdale police say the child died Monday evening.
