Teen dies after a “car-surfing” stunt goes horribly wrong.
Car-surfing is illegal in North America and involves an individual riding on the outside of a car while another party drives.
On Tuesday evening a 19-year-old male was rushed to hospital after a car-surfing stunt went terribly wrong. The victim was riding on the trunk of a car in the Father Tobin-Bramalea Road area in Brampton when he fell and struck the pavement.
The victim died Wednesday night.
In an interview Peel Regional Police spokesman Constable George Tudos said “Not only is it (car-surfing) extremely dangerous, it is illegal.” Adding “Unfortunately… a young driver is facing some very serious charges.”
The 16 year-old driver is being charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing bodily harm. Those charges could be upgraded today.
This is the second incident this month that a teen has critically injured in a car surfing incident.
