On stage at the Air Canada Centre, Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger told his audience three songs into Saturday’s concert, that he would not be making any jokes towards Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.
“It’s too easy. It’s much too easy a target. It’s a bit cheap — cheap shots…So we’re not going to do any of that…we’re going to crack on with the show now.”
However, roughly 20 minutes after that initial remark, Jagger dropped another allusion to recent political events.
“L.A. just elected a new mayor, who promised free medical marijuana. I wonder what the new mayor of Toronto would promise? Free subway tickets?”
