Even before her surprised performance at Super Bowl XLIX on February 1st, many fans have been waiting impatiently on new music from Missy Elliot. It now seems as if the wait is finally over. The Grammy award winning rapper is back in the studio with super-producer and long time collaborator Timberland working on new music.
On February 10th, Missy shared a photo of her and Timberland in the studio and tweeted; “Me & @Timbaland bk 2 the drawing board studio dirty beats”.
Her last full-length album, “The Cookbook” which peaked at Number 1 on Top Rap Albums chart and Number 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, was released on July 5th 2005 which was almost 10 years ago.
So to say new music is long over-due in an understatement. According Nielsen Music, Elliot’s halftime performance at the Super Bowl earned her a sale raise of 996 percent in the United States.
