New Zealand defeat Sri Lanka after record-smashing stand

A record breaking partnership ensured a New Zealand victory; they defeated Sri Lanka by 108 runs in the 5th ODI at Dunedin. The Kiwis made 360/5 from 50 overs, including an unbroken 6th wicket stand of 267 between wicket keeper Luke Ronchi on 170 and Grant Elliott on 104; both men were named the players of the match. This is the 2nd highest partnership by New Zealand, the first being 274 between James Marshall and Brendon McCullum in 2008. Sri Lankan bowlers Nuwan Kulasekara took 2/71 from 10, and captain Lahiru Thirimanne took 2/36 from 7. Sri Lanka were 252 all out; Tillakaratne Dilshan with 116, and captain Thirimanne with 45 Bowling for New Zealand: Trent Boult 4/44 from 10, Tim Southee 2/42 from 7.4, Mitchell McClenaghan 2/56 from 8, Grant Elliott 2/42 from 9.
