Obama rolls out executive orders to combat US gun violence

US President Barack Obama has taken a fierce stance on gun control, in an effort to curb the number of mass shootings, suicides and killings. Despite opposition from Congress, he introduced a series of executive steps to reduce gun violence. Speaking from the East room of the White House, President Obama introduced expanding the background checks so all sellers of guns who operate online or at gun shows must do background checks on customers. Obama says these are common sense steps to save lives. The FBI will hire more than 230 examiners to help process those background checks. Also, dealers shipping guns will be responsible to notify authorities if a gun is lost or stolen in transit. The president plans on holding a town hall meeting in Virginia in the coming weeks to continue this discussion.
