Warns His Daughters To Stay Away From The Drug
During a news conference today on national drug laws, U.S President Barack Obama, states that he does not think marijuana is more dangerous than alcohol, “in terms of impact on individual consumer.”
Obama told an interviewer that the legalization of marijuana in Washington and Colorado was important, as it would end the unfair penalization of a minority of smokers.
The president admits to experimenting with marijuana in his youth, “As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life,” he told The New Yorker.
The president adds that he doesn’t not encourage smoking marijuana, “I’ve told my daughters I think it’s a bad idea, a waste of time, not very healthy.”
Individuals whom are not in favor of the law have raised concerns on whether wide availability of the drug will lead to more underage drug use, more cases of driving while high and more crime.
