Pan Am Games: Canada mens’ baseball squad takes gold, among other recent medalsJuly 20, 2015
Canada claimed gold in men’s baseball at the 2015 Pan Am Games, defeating the US 7-6 in extra innings at the Ajax Ballpark. Elsewhere, reigning Pan Am champion Rosie MacLennan took gold in the women’s trampoline event; fellow Canadian Karen Cockburn won bronze. Patricia Bezzoubenko captured silver for Canada; the rhythmic gymnast placed second in the clubs final. The gold medal went to American Laura Zeng. Team Canada also had bronze in the women’s group clubs and hoops event.
So far, the US has the top spot with 165 medals: 62 gold, 54 silver, 49 bronze. That means Canada’s in second with 54 gold, 49 silver, 41 bronze for a total of 144. Brazil has 101 medals: 30 gold, 29 silver and 42 bronze. In the Caribbean, the Bahamas has a gold and a bronze, Trinidad & Tobago has a silver and a bronze, Jamaica has one silver, and Bermuda holds on to a single bronze medal.
