Parapan Am Games: Canadian swimmers, sprinters add to growing medal countAugust 10, 2015
After Canada’s swimmers made their mark on the Parapan Am podium, there are a few more medals on the way for the host country. BC swimmer Nathan Stein copped a silver in the men’s S10 100m butterfly; in the same event, Kitchener’s Alec Elliot earned bronze. In table tennis, it’s a bronze for Ian Kent in the men’s singles class 8, and in the women’s singles class 6-7, Stephanie Chan claimed gold. Karen Van Nest won a silver medal in archery at the women’s compound open contest. And on the track, Ottawa’s Jason Dunkerley wins a gold in the men’s 5000m T11 race; Dunkerley finished second but Odair Ferreira Dos Santos of Brazil was disqualified. Another Ottawa native, Josh Cassidy, took silver in the men’s 5000m T54, behind American Daniel Romanchuk.
