Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie were welcomed to the first dinner for a Canadian leader in 19 years!
During last night’s toast, U.S. President Barack Obama made some light jokes, including his attempts to pronounce “Mississauga and joking that while he tried to make the Trudeaus feel comfortable by putting poutine on the menu, he draws the line “at getting milk out of a bag.”
Obama also touched on Trudeau’s mother’s legacy; thanking Margaret (who was in attendance) for her work with raising awareness about mental illness, which led to a moving standing ovation.

Also, in attendance were many Canadians who’ve settled in the States – actors Ryan Reynolds, Michael J. Fox, Mike Myers
(almost unrecognizable with white hair), and Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels.
