R&B singer and daughter of the legendary Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole died last night at a hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 65! According to publicist Maureen O’Connor, the singer had struggled with a variety of health issues in recent years and the cause of death was reported to be congestive heart failure.
Her son Robert Yancy and sisters Timolin and Casey Cole released a statement saying; “Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived… with dignity, strength and honour. Our beloved mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain unforgettable in our hearts forever.”
Cole rose to fame as an R&B artist with tracks such as “This Will Be” and “Inseparable”. She also scored a major hit with the song “Unforgettable” which features her late father. Her album “Unforgettable … With Love” was also a major success, spending five weeks at No. 1 on the pop charts, selling more than 14 million copies worldwide and won 6 of her 9 Grammy Awards.
She will surely be missed, may her soul Rest In Peace!
