The Jamaica Reggae Industry Association Honor Awards were held recently in Kingston, Jamaica and several people were honored for their contribution to reggae.

21 Entertainment industry professionals were awarded, including Pat Chin and her late husband Vincent who were given a Lifetime Achievement Award. Chin said she was ‘very honored and very happy’ she went on to say “So our music has spread all over the world and I’m so happy to be part of this culture. I am dedicated to my country, culture and the people. I am blessed to have a beautiful culture like Jamaica’s.”

The couple founded the New York based VP Records in 1979, the largest independent label and distributor of Caribbean music worldwide. The late, Hopeton Lewis and John Holt were also posthumously given Honor Awards. Both artists died last year.
