Chris Gayle made the fastest half-century by a West Indies batsman to secure a 4-wicket victory over the South African hosts at the first T20 international match in Cape Town. South Africa made 165/4 from 20 overs. Rilee Rossouw was unbeaten on 51. Windies fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell picked up 2/33 from 4 overs. Man of the match Chris Gayle made 77 off 31 balls with 8 sixes and 5 fours to power the Windies to 168/6 from 19.2 overs. Gayle was supported by Marlon Samuels 41 and opener Dwayne Smith 20. There were no double-digit scores from the other batsmen. Bowling for South Africa, Imran Tahir took 3/28 from 4 overs and Wayne Parnell took 2/39 from 4 overs. The Windies lead the series 1-nil, with 2 matches left to play.
