Sikandar Raza stays unbeaten as Zimbabwe claim ODI opener against Ireland

It was a tight contest, but Sikandar Raza held on to give Zimbabwe a 2-wicket victory over Ireland at the first ODI match in Harare. The Irishmen posted 219/8 from their 50 overs; wicketkeeper Gary Wilson made 70 not out, and Ed Joyce 53. Zimbabwe bowler Wellington Masakadza, the brother of Hamilton, made his ODI debut; he picked up 2/45 from 10, and John Nyumbu took 2/35 from 10. The hosts fought back with 222/8 from 49 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 60 from man of the match Sikandar Raza; Craig Ervine was dismissed for 60. Bowling for Ireland, Andy McBrine took 2/53 from 10, and George Dockrell 2/29 from 10 overs. Zimbabwe lead 1-0 in this 3-match series.
