‘Stars Wars’ Actor Dies During London Theatre Rehearsal

Star Wars actor Khan Bonfils, who played Jedi Master Saesee Tiin in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” died on stage on Monday while rehearsing for a new play. Bonfils, who appeared in “Batman Begins”, collapsed while rehearsing for the play, which was set to begin later this week at The Rag Factory theatre in the London. He was reportedly 42 years-old.


Paramedics and members of the Craft Theatre Company in East London attempted to save Khan. At the moment, the cause of his death is still unknown. Chris Hislop, Craft Theatre Company’s spokesperson, confirmed Bonfils’ death and saying, “The entire company are in shock. There is absolutely severe sadness, it is a real tragedy.”


Bonfils’ latest production had been due to open tonight, now fellow actor Ryan Prescott has taken on his role and opening night will be delayed two days, until Saturday, January 10th.


“We’ve been through a bit of a trauma, it’s all very difficult to stomach,” director Rocky Rodriguez Jr. said via the company’s website. “The only thing we know how to do is continue to do what we do. We need to finish the journey that Khan was on.”


The late talented actor also appeared in “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life” and the James Bond film “Skyfall”.
