Comedian and TV host Steve Harvey opened up exclusively to People’s Magazine about his journey from being homeless to obtaining a $100 million dollar fortune!
Steve was a 28-year-old insurance salesman, married with young twin daughters when he tried stand-up for the first time in 1985. It was a contest, and he won the $50 first prize. He quit his job the next day despite the disapproval of his first wife Marcia.
Things didn’t turn out the way Harvey wanted – making only $3,000 in his first year on the road, living out of his Ford Tempo, showering at rest stops and even stealing gas when he had to in order to get to gigs. Eventually, he got his big break – a televised gig on “Showtime at the Apollo” in 1993, and the rest as the saying goes, is history!
Now the 59-year-old comedian has a syndicated radio show, the host of “The Steve Harvey Show”, “Family Feud”, and “Little Big Shots” AND of course, the author the best-selling book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” which has inspired TWO movies and an upcoming TV series. He also remarried and he and his wife Marjorie have seven kids and three grandkids, with a fourth on the way!
You can say Steve is doing pretty well for himself!
