The Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) has announced a new effort to speed up repairs at housing units in three neighbourhoods. The pilot project is called “ReSet”, and will see multiple capital repairs in each building bundled together to be treated as one single project. Greg Spearn, head of the TCHC, says residents will be engaged in the planning process. The “ReSet” program will be tested on its buildings in three areas: Lawrence and Markham, Jane and Finch, and the Queensway and South Kingsway. The TCHC, which currently has a repair backlog of 2.6 billion dollars, will be investing 200 million dollars for rehabilitation projects next year.
