England fast bowler Jimmy Anderson was running roughshod on Australia in the opening day of the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston. Opener Chris Rogers hit 52 but there wasn’t too much output from the Aussies, who were bowled out for 136 in the first innings. England’s Jimmy Anderson recorded a new personal best when he took 6/47 from 14.4 overs. Stuart Broad took 2/44 from 12, and Steven Finn 2/38 from 10. At close of play on day 1, the English batsmen have their work cut out for them in their response of 133/3, with Joe Root on 30, and Jonny Bairstow on 1; Ian Bell was out for 53. Bowling for Australia, Nathan Lyon picked up 2/3 from 2 overs. England trail by only 3 runs with 7 wickets remaining.
